One of the reasons I started my LJ was to explore, network, and get feedback on the various products of my imagination - the most dear to me being my comic book, "Atomic Youth".
Warning: I'm about to go on and on about it.
The first storyline, "Atomic Youth: Genesis", is about a group of young supers called HighBorn, a supernaturally empowered branch of humanity with its origins in the Age of Myth. Ten years ago the HighBorn were nearly eradicated by the ancient fiend Ultimas. Now these teens are caught between two factions of the previous generation, both trying to convince the kids they can be trusted, and the other group cannot. They deal with budding powers and teen drama, discovering safety and answers can be obtained on the lost, enchanted island of Alveron. They embark on that quest, and once there, learn who can be trusted, who can’t, and the identities of the mysterious villains who’ve hounded them.
"Atomic Youth" draws on mythology from many cultures, and creates a comprehensive history. From this platform it launches a tale of heroes, a family divided, once allies reunited, and new friends trying to become old ones. I’ve spent a decade developing a rich back-story and well-rounded yet thematic characters.
While it isn't a super-hero book (I like to call it "super-teen fantasy") I'm hoping it appeals to fans of superhero comics. It also has an anime feel, along fits alongside modern teen-fantasies (think "Harry Potter").
The story wields a strong theme of purpose and choice. It’s about what makes a hero. And not every character who’s part of our adventurous band is a hero. Some will grow to be, others won’t.
Character themes are also vivid in this book. From powers to personality to code-names, each character has a cohesive theme. Alot of comics have gotten away from that, and, while it's probably more of a pet-peeve than a lack of creativity on anyone elses part, I still feel like its important.
So that's it in a nut shell. My comic. Atomic Youth.

- Music:"This Old Man" is playing on an electric music box
I'm starting something. It isn't something new, really. I've been working on it for over ten years. Now I have a plan, though. Of course, I've had a plan before.
As I hoist up my britches legs and roll up my sleeves, preparing to finally birth my worlds, I wanted to start an LJ. It's here that I'll log my progress, share things I learn, and, hopefully, find some accountability. It's here I hope to find a community of fellow creators that I can learn from and give to.
My plan is to create a series of comic books, a separate but related role-playing game, and a supplemental web-site. Yeah, it’s a big plan. I call it "My New Master Plan" (my first "Master Plan" was the one I used to ensnare my wife).
To get me motivated, my wife (a wonderful writer) made me a bet. I have to have my first issue penciled and lettered (and she has to write a novel) by mid-February. The winner gets $200. The loser has to detail clean the house. I hate cleaning and I who couldn't use $200.
Thus, the comic is where I'll be starting. Once the first issue is pencilled and lettered I'll have to either find an inker or learn to ink. Then, I'll put some work into the RPG and web-site.
I'm excited about LJ. I'm not so clear on its potential, but I welcome any guidance.

So, my wife sent me this color-quiz, which seems kind of like a crock. I mean, how can a computer get a glimps into your soul by the order you prefer a series of colors?
Oddly, it was dead on.
